Bobergsgymnasiet

Ånge, Sweden

Bobergsgymnasiet is an upper secondary school and is located in a small town in the middle of Sweden called Ånge.
The school has about 300 students and about 40 teachers.
The students are between the age of 16 to 19 and the years are year 1 to year 3.
The school has a so called programme system. This means that you choose a programme and each programme has their own pack of courses, some are mandatory (English A, Swedish A, Maths A, etc..) and some are optional, but in the end of the 3rd year you need to have 2500 points to graduate. Courses are either 100 points or 50 points.

The school is very involved in international projects. It has been a member in The Global Classroom Partnership since 1997 when the first Global Classroom Conference was held in Shetland. The year after in 1998, Bobergsgymnasiet was the host of the conference. After that Bobergsgymnasiet has been the host of the conference in 2004 and also the host of the most recent conference in June 2011 (which by the way was a great success).

The school has also been heavily involved with several other projects. A Comenius project called "F@r Away But Close" with schools from Germany, Austria and Poland, where they've had a smaller conference every year in April in the years 2009-2011, almost like the GCC.
Every year the school fundraises money to go and help out a school in Bolivia, it's called "The Bolivia Project".
The school also sends pupils on other smaller projects and exchanges throughout the school year and during the school year of 2011-2012 the school will have an exchange student from a school in Nara, Japan.

Bobergsgymnasiets vision:
"Our vision is that a Bobergs student must be an active corporate citizen:

- Be imaginative, creative and responsible.
- Have good communication skills both orally and in writing that visually in both Swedish and foreign languages.
- Have good insight and understanding of their own and others' cultures.

We believe that a student will learn a lot, thrive and grow as a person during their years with us!"
